1 edit | Re: [Niagara] Welland very very slow speeds ok i just got cogeco on march 27 and its been slow since i got it mostly during the day at night after like 12:00 1:00AM its gets faster, they came and ran a new line out to the pole.
then i called again when it was slow they said it was an area issue and it should be better in a few hours that was last week.
i have digital cable and phone.
i tried 6 different PC's directly connected to the modem with firewall off and they where all the same , i did a hard reset on the modem still no go.
have windows xp pro and vista machines on a gigabit network
all machines can transfer back and forth at 900+ Mbps all computers have been scanned with multiple virus scanners and spyware scanners.
i dont run any P2P stuff so the connection is not used by anything other then a web browser and MSN Messenger.
at the time of this post my connection is fine 8+ Mbps
but during the day it slows way down to dialup like speed on every site i visit.
Test below was taken at 12:44 AM connection is fine at night

| Re: [Niagara] Welland very very slow speeds I had the same 2 1/2 years ago in Welland, and was told for months that nothing was wrong on the Cogeco end and that it was my setup, replace the modem, no congestion, etc, etc.. After midnight to 1am, it always improved, just like your case. There was no admission that the area needed an upgrade to relieve congestion. It was a year later that an area upgrade was done. | I have been having a hell of a time with them in the last few days.
I use giganews, and even though the cogeco speed test shows good speed, I can't break 400k during the day/evening. Only after 2am does the speed get decent. Normally it sits at about 200k or less. This is confirmed on multiple computers, and multiple news providers. Bullshicks I tells ya. | |

| I live on Wellbrook Blvd, off Fitch. Just moved from the EAST SIDE OF WELLAND. I used to live on Mcalpine ave, and had INSANE speeds there. Would always be around 10 mpbs all day, all night.
I just moved to Wellbrook Bvld, and at night my service gets down to 1 mpbs! If im even downloading a driver, or game demo, its IMPOSSIBLE to surf the net.
I was told myself "Oh thats a bad area we only have 1 node, we are working on another"
I think we shouldnt be charged full pop for a service that isnt running full pop. | |

Well it looks like Cogeco has done it again. I am back into the cycle of good bandwidth in the morning (14/1) to this crap at night. They just split my node two months ago and it was been perfect until the last few weeks and not at night time I am down to this again. The only way I could get them to move on the split was to call the BBB then they finally agreed with me that my node is overload. I am so frustrated with this same old thing happening year after year.
Are any of the techs available and willing to check my node to confirm for me that it is again overloaded. I would greatly appreciate it. I will PM you my MAC.
