Re: [Niagara] Welland very very slow speeds

I've noticed my Downstream Frequency went from 117MHz to 111MHz today and on top of this amazing speed test for 5:30pm on a Saturday:

I think Cogeco may have split up the nodes in Welland

Is anyone around Fitch able to post their speedtest during the day? I just tried at 8AM this morning and only got 1MPBS... I wanted to see if anyone else is having this issue around that time as well.

I am on standard service, should be getting higher then that.

So update, it is 11:35AM and my speed test is showing 1mpbs! NO DOWNLOADS going either.

I have put in a complaint to the CCTS.

I get decent speeds in the morning, but still nothing to brag about. Its funny on the east side, my internet was blazing fast. Its sad to say i moved to a nicer side of town to get a crappier service? Jeeze.

How do i file a CCTS complaint?

Have you yourself had a DSL connection recently (past year), and with who if you did? My son lives in the apt's behind Food Basics and has TSI. He does only get 2Mb, but I told him to expect that with being in an older apt building. IF you yourself haven't had DSL, don't rely on what others in your area get. Each residence can be unique, as well as the ISP. Not shilling for TSI, but they have no contracts. If you have access to a decent DSL modem, it would cost you $30 to "test drive" TSI 5Mb for a month. IF it sucks, you only lost $30. A *consistent* 2MB connection would be better than the crap you're getting.

DSL in this area sucks ..i can only get a 2Mbit connection ..probably the reason why cogeco doesn't give a crap about this area.
that sucks ... are you getting decent speeds from cogeco at any time of the day? Cuz 2M is still faster than the speedtest results you've posted ...

Have you gone ahead with your CCTS complaint? Cogeco is usually pretty responsive to complaints filed that way.

I don't understand why you would tolerate this for nearly six months... why not switch providers? DSL would probably give you better speeds; not 10M or anything but better than that crap... You can even just try it out for a month - i.e. don't sign a contract or anything, and see if its any better...

Yes, i'd like to know when they are planning on upgrading. I mean we are all giving them $45.00+ a month, and giving us sub par service. Would like to see my money go somewhere useful.

Well it looks like Cogeco has done it again. I am back into the cycle of good bandwidth in the morning (14/1) to this crap at night. They just split my node two months ago and it was been perfect until the last few weeks and not at night time I am down to this again. The only way I could get them to move on the split was to call the BBB then they finally agreed with me that my node is overload. I am so frustrated with this same old thing happening year after year.

Are any of the techs available and willing to check my node to confirm for me that it is again overloaded. I would greatly appreciate it. I will PM you my MAC.

I live on Wellbrook Blvd, off Fitch. Just moved from the EAST SIDE OF WELLAND. I used to live on Mcalpine ave, and had INSANE speeds there. Would always be around 10 mpbs all day, all night.

I just moved to Wellbrook Bvld, and at night my service gets down to 1 mpbs! If im even downloading a driver, or game demo, its IMPOSSIBLE to surf the net.

I was told myself "Oh thats a bad area we only have 1 node, we are working on another"

I think we shouldnt be charged full pop for a service that isnt running full pop.
