There is a market out there just waiting to be exploited. It has nothing to do with a "fair price". Their goal is to pay as little as possible without getting caught.

Your Burger King analogy is off the mark by quite a bit. I was simply pointing out that the current business models apparently create a breeding ground for copyright infringement. Piracy could be significantly reduced if only a fraction of the time and energy spent on attacking it directly were channeled into researching better distribution methods that satisfied more potential customers.

The fact is that people who download from these sites simply have a thought process that doesn't allow them to see intellectual property as "real property". So they don't think they have to pay anyone for it.
God forbid that their computer, or other personal belongings, is stolen. Then they would be the first to the cops. -- "Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them." -- George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Evidently, some people do not feel that the price is fair or that the quality is good enough, and because piracy seems to be such a problem, apparently that number of people is significant. There will never be a perfect situation that completely eliminates piracy, but rather than play a hopeless game of ping pong with pirates, it seems like there is much that can be done to reduce it by compromising a bit more with the consumers' wishes.

Evidently, some people do not feel that the price is fair or that the quality is good enough, So then don;t buy it. That doesn't mean steal it. If I want to buy a certain type of car and I don't feel the price is a fair price that doens't mean I just steal the car. It means I tell the guy selling it that I'm not paying that price and if he want my business he lowers the price or we go our separate ways.
