well as an update it appears we will be in the Spring area, the house we are contracting on is in Bammel Forest area, backs up to Northgate Country club and golf.
so what can anyone tell me about that area? I already know it is in the 100 yr flood plain, amazingly enough every single house we looked at, which was numerous and in widspread areas, had at one time or another had some flooding.
I guess it is just something you learn to live with in that area. but since I was born and raised in South Louisiana on the Gulf coast I am familiar with that situation.
I should be moving down there in July.
so any info is much appreciated.
we still have no word yet on what utility providers are at that property so if anyone knows that area ...

I have no idea where to go to find that kind of info about the various areas, do you know? I am using Har.com to look at real estate and it gives a lot of info but nothing I have seen gives utilities info and that kind of stuff. Used to you only had one option for things so it was not very difficult now you have to try to dig up all the info on what is out there and what is best.

alg that is exactly what I need to know I do not want to have bars on the windows and listen to the sound of gun fire LOL call me picky! Where I am now we have 2 acres and love it, all homes have to be at least 2 acres "estate" lots. We are willing to get a little less land but still want in a good safe area.

In my opinion your current four choices are decent areas. Though they aren't that far (especially by Houston standards), Tomball and Porter are slightly more removed from the Houston metro area compared to Spring or Humble.
You could always cheap out and come into the Aldine area where I am. Just last night while doing some basic maintenance on my bike I heard somebody squeeze off five or six rounds off in the distance. Yay for ghetto neighborhoods! |

| about a year ago we thought we were moving to South Houston and that did not happen but it is a definite that we will be moving to the North Houston area, in fact husband is already there for his work.
Can someone tell me some of the options for internet providers, phone, electric? I have been hearing a lot about the various electric companies and getting into contracts with high rates so that worries me.
I have Fios here where I am now and sure hate to lose it but doubt it is available there, so what are the options?
I am looking at areas like Spring, Humble, Tomball, Porter, have not settled on exactly where, Husbands work is in Spring but he is used to a commute since we are in Dallas area. Also does the Lake Houston area flood?
Thanks for any info and which areas might be better than others.
