| Think about it! I feel like most software should be free to non commercial use all the time. I have purchased software over the years that had no trial to be tried and after I bought and paid for it, I found out it was not what I needed nor would not do the job I had purchased it for. I work very hard for my income and when money gets wasted because of software that didn't' fit the bill, then I have to spend more money. Who is coming out here, me or the software company?
Not all but some software is way over priced and is used as a ploy,dangled in front of the consumer knowing that a lot of folks cannot buy it. I have had students that go back to school after loosing their job. In these classes papers are required for assignments. The instructors require those papers to be typed in Microsoft Word. These students have no job and a small amount of government help via unemployment insurance to feed their families. The only way they can get a paper done is go into the school computer lab and use the free access computers. This takes them away from their children and family which in returns causes them to go lacking in some form or manner. They cannot afford any software in their current condition financially. I feel like Microsoft could could allow them the use of a copy that might have a two year serial for two year degree or a 4 year license for a 4 year degree. After the 2 year or 4 years of time they were in school the serial expires. This helps them to one work from home, two obtain a degree while maintaining a family and three meet the instructors request in file format.
I download very little music but I don't feel the same way about it or movies. If you got the money and want to be legal then buy your music and movies. There is in my view not a legitimate reason to download music and movies.
I know all situations are not like this but some are. The fact that software cost so much and some software without trials cannot be tested before it is purchased causes people to make use of bit torrent, or other means of illegal download.
I could careless what people do with downloading, I use it from time to time and found it to be a valuable asset. | |

What good is a trial that doesn't work?
Limited functionality?
If it won't do it's assigned task, how the hell are you supposed to know if is what you need?
