arris 502 is still docsis 2,you will need a docsis 3 compliant modem to get the ultra 22mbit,call back and have them install it,you still need the emta though for cdv.

Comcast offers a 22/5 (before powerboost) tier for customers who have been upgraded to doc 3.0.

However, the 22/5 and 50/5 tiers *MUST* have a Docsis 3.0 modem.

Yes they should be using D3 modems, but some areas (IL, in particular) have been reported as upgrading users to 22/5, using D2 modems.
Not sure if it's and error, a D3 modem shortage, or an experiment.
Those that get or buy a D3 modem are reporting much higher powerboost, so it's probably worth calling in for one, or buying your own.

If they are on a D2 modem and were upgraded to 22/5, they need to call Comcast to get a D3 modem.

Comcast has been trying to locate all 22/5 tier customers on a D2 and sending them D3 modems.

I agree that it (probably )will cause problems, but they should inform the sales dept. "NO upgrade without a D3 modem" and not allow D2 modems to be provisioned above 16/2, but for some reason they keep doing it.

Nice to see you!...I can say that given the recent news TW has been getting, I would rather be seeing you in the Adelphia forum.

so the a tech came out and said that the arris docsis 2.0 is usable with the ultra 22/5 tier and power boost chan bonding isn't needed.

Sure, it's usable but it would be much better for everyone if you were using a D3 modem. You would get much higher powerboost, and your neighbors wouldn't be bogged down by your 22mbps on a single channel

That is indeed true, but doing so may make you, and others subject to congestion/slowdown issues depending on how many other fellow subcribers are sharing the same single upstream and single downstream channels on your local segment..

W.I.W., those are two different, and unrelated things.

Apologies for the echo with my first paragraph, but I figured I'd join the club around here..
