| Downloads Timing Out Everytime I download something over 5mb the download times out. I dont download music or movies, but there are some programs that I try to download for college and free applications/messengers that are fairly large. I have to get friends to download them and bring them to me. Downloading large files was part of the reason I wanted sat instead of dialup.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

| Re: Downloads Timing Out I don't think it has anything to do with WildBlue. I just downloaded a 80MB file with no problem. Maybe if you would post a bit of information about your setup someone here could help you. Have you called customer service? Who do you have your WB service through? -- Ron ~ Wildblue Select Pak since 01-2006, Anik F2 Beam 26, service through NRTC, Dell XPS, 2Gig Ram, XP Pro, Router DD-WRT- WRT54GL, Laptop, XP home | |

| Yes, please provide more information about your setup and/or any other problems you may have with your system. I have downloaded +2GB files (Garmin maps) without a glitch, so it's not a WildBlue issue. -- Anik F2 | WildBlue Pro Pak | Beam 37 | Laredo NOC | Since Nov 2005 | Linksys WRT54GX-v2| Windows XP | Homebrew PC | |

| Re: Downloads Timing Out I am running windows Vista on laptop. I am using a belkin wireless router. I am using avg free antivirus and a no software firewall because of the router. I have major latency issues at times with websites loading up and any download over 3 or 4 mbs it times out. I have installed the wildblue optimizer. | |

I am using a belkin wireless router. The Belkin wireless router may be the problem. What model and version?

Connect the WB modem directly to a computer and repeat trying to download those problem files Bet you discover that your Belken router is the problem, as Basilar also suggested

| For starters bypass the Belkin router as mentioned by others since some models have problems with WB. If you still have problems do a string of 20 or so of pings to see if you are getting a lot of timeouts. If your showing of packet loss it's time for a call to CS. Could be anything from a bad modem to just needing your dish repointed. Where and how is you dish mounted? -- Ron ~ Wildblue Select Pak since 01-2006, Anik F2 Beam 26, service through NRTC, Dell XPS, 2Gig Ram, XP Pro, Router DD-WRT- WRT54GL, Laptop, XP home | |

| Which spot beam are you using? Your problem could be related to bad weather at your place or at your gateway. If you do not know, I can probably figure it out from your ZIP code or the name of a nearby town and your state. -- Value Pack, beam 31, Riverside gateway | |
