| reply to efr Thanks darknestgirl I am exactly doing what you've recommended, I cancelled my Bell internet yesterday and trying to order Acanac. As you mentioned I am trying to keep the Bell Modem which they usually leave it with the customers. If I sign up with Acanac (without their modem) What exact procedure should I go thru to be able to get the internet via Acanac. I know I have to get into the modem (pre-programmed by Bell) and changed it the way to be able to get Acanac thru it. I would like to know What exactly to do with the modem programming. BTW, I have a VIOP adaptor before my wireless router, i.e. Modem -> phone adaptor -> wireless router -> computer. Hope I was clear enough! efr |

| reply to efr You have to know that if the modem you got belong to Bell(rental), you'll have to return it(if they do send you the return box wich they don't always do).
To be able to get into the modem you need to connect it directly on your computer.
And before cancelling bell, you should wait until you are connected with Acanac and that you don't have any problem with it, cause if you do have problem, you'll end up with no internet at all. They have a 30 day money back guaranteed and Bell ask for 30 days notice before cancelling their service(if you are in contract with them) |

| reply to efr I don't have any Acanac ID yet as I have not applied/signed up with Acanac yet. Just wanted to make sure that I'd be able to use my current Modem (SpeedStream 5200, E240). I tried to open the Modem interface on web my browser to find out if could switch it to Acanac or my next provider however I was not able to view on the browser using 192.168.2.1 I am already using a wireless router after my modem as well. Long story short: I'd like make sure and try to change my modem setting (hope it is not locked) before I switch as I am not willing to pay for modem at this time. Thanks efr |

| reply to efr Send me your Acanac ID (use the IM Instant Msg here) and I will give you some instructions. Generally, all settings are "default" just use the DSL username and password you received after activation. (Username will be in following format uSErName@acanac.net) |
