Re: [FP] Your opinion is humbly requested... At this point I find the MPICH version of the Windows SMP client quite stable. The only problem I encountered was shutdown on a server with two quad XEON processors and, thus, two SMP clients. If you shut down one with Ctrl-C, you lose all your work on the other. By accident I discovered I can avoid losing work by doing a shutdown of the server, allowing that process to shut down the clients. Problem solved.
I held off running the SMP clients for a long time because the install process looked long, tedious and iffy. When I finally devoted some time for it, I installed all three clients with no problems. If you do this, read all the related FAQs before starting the install, choose your plan of attack and then follow the instructions precisely. Not difficult just a long, tedious process.
I babbled about my 2 cents worth in a couple of Helix threads:
»[F@H] SMP Client Question »[F@H] F@H On New Machine - Help
My thought would be to try it. If, for some reason, it doesn't work out on that box, you can always wipe out the install and go to the uniprocessor clients. If it does work out for you, it is so much easier to monitor and maintain one client than four. -- Join Team Helix * I am praying for these friends . |

How hard will it be to set up the stats upload scripts? Can you point me in any direction (even if that direction is to the search function on the site)?
