I doubt you specify your Public IP in the Modem as Most ISPs assign your IP by your PPPoE or PPPoA login credentials. <description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/0"><b>anon</b></A> : I am trying to setup a web server.  have the following:<br><br>My Desktop running XP with IIS enabled and it will be the web server.<br>Speedstream 4200 modem /Router<br>Static IP address<br><br>I don't wish to register a domain name yet. I want to get the server up and running using my <br>Static IP address. I also would like to keep my private IP addresses for security reasons becuase I have 4 machines on my LAN.<br><br>My question is where do I configure my static IP on my SpeedStream Router ( if yes where abouts) or do I configure it on my server?<br><br>If I configure it on my server and my static IP starts with 60.240.*****. how do i route the traffic to my web server if it has a private address of say 192.168.0.*<br>Do I need to forward any ports?<br><br>Your help is much appreciated.]]></description>
