because april and may, there are no overage charges...You'll only get cut off if you cause problems on the network..(ie..someone on your node calls in and complains of congestion, cogeco investigates, see's your over your limit...then they take action)

first post of this thread..point #4

»Usage Billing

@cgocable.net

so your telling me that if i were to do all my downloading at lets say 1am - 6am i could go over as much as i want without any repercussions?

i'm not saying your a liar but you've gotta understand my skepticism. under the old system soho would have a hard cap of about 97gb. then you would be cut off.

its just weird why they would allow such overages especially since they've not started charging for it yet.

I've already gone over the previous hardcap for Standard by 35GB and I'm still around. The $30 we're going to be paying will make Cogeco a lot of money. While we pay $1.50-2.00 per GB, Cogeco is making at least 500% profit off of that alone - I'm thinking the new hardcap will be around 350GB in areas with low congestion, probably a lot lower in high density areas.

I content that the markup is in the neighbourhood of 10000%, if not greater (assuming the real cost is 1.5-2 cents/GB, and that's not even really true depending on time of day).

wow!

i still can't believe you've downloaded that much. anyway to provide a screenshot of your selfcare page just to see the actual numbers ourselves. i guess im worried that if i go over my limit ill have my internet shut off.

if i can see your numbers for myself it would make me less hesitant to download without fear of being punished.

if you dont mind that is.

No worries, I didn't make this up, just quoting Krispy...

agreed...very weird, yet this is what's happening...It's stated very clearly on the new usage page..."Additional usage charges will be credited for the month of April and May."

I'm up to 128% usage, and just recieved my 85% warning :-/
