iPod Touch auto-lock shuts down DSL modem, why?

I got an iPod Touch and a Linksys WRT160N V2 router (I'm on a whitebox PC). I set it up and in general it works. But I notice that when I either turn the iPod off, or if I don't use my iPod for a few minutes and the auto-lock shuts down the screen to conserve battery power, the DSL modem then won't receive any Internet. So the PC isn't getting any data either (the DSL completely won't receive anything from upstream after the iPod turns off, so everybody in the house gets locked out) and whoever is using the computer gets pissed off at me since I'm the designated free tech support person around here. Usually restarting the iPod will make the DSL come back on but other times I have to reboot everything (first DSL, then router, then PC).

Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Re: iPod Touch auto-lock shuts down DSL modem, why?

your ipod is actually a good source for what we call RFI(radio frequency interference.. running in wireless connection).. basically your wireless setup when it turns off create a blockage on your signal stream. most probably. your wireless connection on router is a little bit weak. it may not be the dsl modem per se. but could be the router as well.

UPDATE -- I never did figure out exactly why this was happening. The DSL modem was a Speedstream 4100, made by Siemens, that I got with AT&T Yahoo DSL. At first I thought the problem was outdated firmware, but I checked it and I was running the last firmware version (1.0.0.53). Siemens is out of the DSL modem business now, so any future incompatibilities are not likely to get fixed. I ended up just replacing the modem with AT&T's current one (Motorola 2210) and now the problem is gone.

Because ipod OS is not too much capacity to handle more process at a time and they work as simultanously so they not handle auto-lock.
