T1 and bonded T1 QUOTE PLEASE »

Need a preliminary quote.

I had asked about a quote for this a while back last year, but i need some fresh numbers to figure finances for this project now that we are closing in on applying for the money needed to get started.

I need initially roughly 3 - 10mbit of symmetrical bandwidth, no preference on how it is delivered. I need the ability for it to be able to grow eventually into a full 45mbit of traffic symmetrical over the course of roughly 30 months, in small increments between those months.

This is for a WISP project in the area, so the bandwidth would have to be resell able. Local info is as follows:

2640 New Lake Road
Spring City, Tn 37381
Phone at Address: 423-365-6467 (no dial tone, bringing in dryline dsl)

Quotes can include or exclude router, but if they exclude the equipment i provide will be of the cisco 3XXX series with needed WIC card for the incoming line.

Re: Need a preliminary quote.

I have four different providers that can provide you a full DS-3. The retail pricing is between $7,002 and $8,325 monthly depending on provider and term. Please keep in mind this is just generic retail pricing. If we get to a point where you are actually ready to order, I may be able to negotiate a better rate.

I'm not showing any ethernet options at this point. I'm also showing that fractional DS-3 is not cost effective. 21 Mbps Frac DS-3 is coming in at over $5,000 a month.

Bonded T-1 comes in at $1,226 for 3.0 Mbps. The problem with Bonded T-1 lines is that you wouldn't be able to expand to 45 Mbps like you desire to do.

I represent 29 industry providers - including about 8 in your area. My pricing is guaranteed on same provider/same service. If you find a better price direct or through another outside source on same service/same provider we will match and refund 10% (up to $500) of the difference on your first month's bill.

Email me at jbarnes@shopfort1.com or 888-385-9169 to discuss.

i see you talking about using charter in one of your other posts, they are honestly going to probably be your best bang for the buck in a smaller city like that. It looks like from what metroT1 is posting, local loop prices for t1/ds3 seem pretty nuts. If charter has fiber close to your site and their construction costs arent crazy high you should be able to get something decent from them for a good price.

does Charter allow resale?

Yea you can do what you want with it. We have 2 isp's in our town who use charter for bandwidth because honestly they are the only medium speed provider that is a good bang for the buck in our town. Lightcore is around here but im sure they wouldnt build out unless it was cheap for them or you had a big bandwidth need.
T1's dont scale well to 10mbit and with the pricing posted for a ds3 that seems like it would be outside most peoples budgets, so his options seem limited.

We can use charter and resell it, but i will have to run somewhere around 20 miles of fiber to bring it into this city.... or pay a huge sum to let them do it. They don't have any services in this city as the local cable carrier has a franchise lock on the city cable services. After having a long discussion with them, they were "preferring" to hook up in an address the next city over, and the address we were going to hook up with isn't an option anymore.

I guess finding a site in the next city over and getting fiber there and then just doing a ptp wireless link to your site in spring city wouldnt be an option?

Re: Need a preliminary quote.

the only few tower sites i could use that charter would service to in the next city over are big name tower companies that want an arm and a leg to get on-board... or wont even talk to me because of the "wisps are evil" mentality they have gathered.

We could more than likely run fiber of we can find a method of covering the 6 figure build-out cost of doing so... and we would need to know where their CO is for their fiber plant or nearest connect on their ring, else we will still end up having "build out" costs rolled into what we pay a month to get to our piece.

Well i am not sure what kind of capital and business plan you have but i cant see how a six figure investment for bandwidth alone would work out. Unless you have hundreds of customers knocking down your door for service, you may be best off just starting out with a few t1's and moving up to a ds3 down the road. Even the partial ds3 for ~5k starts looking attractive at this point.

Perhaps you missed my other posting about special promo rates from AT&T for rural areas. That's you. Send me a PM with the name of your business, and contact info.

Re: Need a preliminary quote.

I saw your post on the promo, and i know for a fact that pricing is excellent for this area from past expenditures in this area... but i wasn't sure how long the promotion was going to last as this project isn't quite in the purchasing stages.

I'll send you my info.

Re: Need a preliminary quote.

I left you a VM. BTW, here are some sample prices, all 3 year terms with free installation and on the TDM your router. you would start at low level, and re-contract with no penalty as you go up... Resale is no problem.
1xT1 = 1.5M .... $ 490/month (not bad for a 52 mile loop!)
2xT1 = 3M ....... $ 938/month
4xT1 = 6M ....... $1,660/month
7xT1 = 10.5M ... $2,773/month
Ethernet @ 10M . $2,255/month managed
Ethernet @ 20M . $2,855/month managed
Ethernet @ 40M . $4,067/month managed
DS3 = 45M ....... $6,086/month

May I suggest you do some research on "broadband bonding"...I think it might help in your situation. best wishes...

Re: Need a preliminary quote.

t1 bonding was already discussed here.... And it will also be an expensive option i wish to avoid. (this comment not including the great deal rockybb is posting that has the loop line charge capped)

And the "turn-key" off premises bonding system you are wishing to push in this case is not a viable option either, as there are no cheaper and less reliable adsl / cable / etc lines here that are resell capable.... nor could they even provide the upstream bandwidth needed.

Re: Need a preliminary quote.

Ahh...sorry about that. Yes, to provide that much upstream BW seems problematic on a tight budget. In the meantime you might also consider bonding cellular data modems, though there is not a great amount of aggregate upstream BW available. Best wishes.
