@centurytel.net | reply to McSummation Yes, 8/35 was the "missing link"... just got off the phone with CentryTel tech who indicated the difference. Everything seems to be working well now. Thanks for the pointers. |

| reply to daveinpoway Ah! Thanks for the link... no mention of CenturyTel though. By the way, is PPPoE that simple? If so, is there any way to verify that the DSL is actually reaching the modem or is it possible they are just trying to force me to purchase their equipment? |

@centurytel.net
| My ISP provider of DSL originally indicated that it would be fine for me to use the Speedstream modem to avoid purchase of their equipment. I thought the e-mails and documentation they spoke of sending (and never have) would include basic or standard settings. Now they are telling me they will not volunteer any set-up information for "third party equipment". They did finally verify that a username and password are required. Replacing the previous login info (which did work for a former ISP) with this new info has not worked. Are there other settings which I need to ask for specifically from the ISP? Any pointers would be a great help here! |
