It's not on the list here, but I also just recently grabbed a small program called Glary Utilities. It has your basic disk cleaner, registry cleaner, etc utilities, as well as its own registry defragger and spyware scanner. Honestly, I'm not sure how well either of those work, but I like to use its spyware scanner because it's pretty quick and simple. I keep my PC clean, so I very rarely get any serious spyware issues, just the normal cookie tracker stuff, so I find that using a quick and simple spyware scanner to clear those is more efficient than waiting around for twenty-minute or more scanners like Spybot and Ad-Aware. Although, I do run the longer, deeper scans at least once every other Sunday, just in case.

I have not used Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but since its number one here on dslreports, I think I will check it out for myself. Ive used Spybot S&D for as long as I can remember, and it never finds anything. I know its a good program, but it does nothing for me, and I have uninstalled it on several PC's just recently. Maybe I have good surfing habits (lol), but it doesn't seem to catch anything. And I immunize all the time after updates.

In all seriousness, Avast has been a pretty good front line defender. MB has been my first cleanup tool of choice. I'm trying OpenDNS's AdWare DNS block, to see if it helps.

I'm working on a Group Policy BHO block that I'd deploy in Active Directory networks. It wouldn't completely prevent anything, but it would severely limit most browser based infections.

I voted SUPERAntiSpyware.

For various reasons (the main reason being I never found any spyware), I've cut way down on my "layers" over the years.
In fact, about all I have now is SUPERAntiSpyware, and even that I only use on demand, and rarely even run a scan with it anymore.

I'm not saying that's the most sensible thing for everyone, but it works for me.

Now that Avira Antivir Personal edition ver 9 has the same great antispyware as the paid versions, there is not much reason for me to use anything else.

However, I feel that Spyware Blaster is a fine compliment to Antivir. Plus, I will keep SuperAntispyware for a second opinion (on demand use only)...layered approach, of course. :D

I have an old version of Spybot that I cannot remove and no one has been able to help and be successful. I'd like to also use Spybot on demand if I could ever get the old version off.
