What everyone seems to be forgetting....

Like my title states, if they want to work in this administration, they are BARRED from working on issues related to the entertainment industry. These people are lawyers, not just shills for the RIAA/MPAA. The strong majority of lawyers that I know personally (friends and family) are more willing to follow the path to more power and money than having loyalty to an "employer".

As much as I hate the RIAA/MPAA tactics, lets at least see where this goes before we stone the man.

Re: What everyone seems to be forgetting....

Oh please. How is this not a sign that the President is sucking up to the **AAs big time.

And if he's so committed to "transparency" and truly isn't the RIAA's little pet, why is he classifying the ACTA treaty? The idea that an international treaty on copyright has anything to do with national security is nothing but contemptuous of the public. Thank goodness for Wikileaks.

I just can't believe that Obama supporters expected anything different.

Re: What everyone seems to be forgetting....

Probably because when you go looking for something, you can always find it when desired.

If you want to see the President as just another RIAA supporter, you will. It's all objective to one's opinion. On the other hand, someone else could easily see this as a physiological 101 tactic. You don't want the RIAA to mess with the laws, so you hire those that have well established ties to the RIAA because now you know that anything they do will be under the microscope from *everyone*

It's like putting a KKK member in charge of a dine dinner for the Black Panther party. You know what he's about, it's very well known. But he won't say anything for fear of his own safety.

So either the President is just uninformed or he's just smart enough to know that even the Judge is only human and not invincible to ego or pride manipulation.

Take your pick now that have you both sides of the coin to flip.

Don't think for a second that money is the only currency in Washington.

Yeah that logic worked so well when it came to putting Goldman Sachs (Rubin, Paulson, etc.) in charge of regulating Wall Street.

That is true in any administration. Any employee is generally forbidden from moonlighting in another line of work.

There is certainly nothing special about this administration or how it operates, except for the high number of tax cheats that have managed to find jobs. These appointments, like with any other administration, are simply a reward for support during the campaign.

Re: What everyone seems to be forgetting....

You seriously believe these people are not beholden to the **AA? The **AA pays them lots of money and will probably continue to slip them money on the side now that they work in the DOJ. This will really help the **AA - get the DOJ on their side finally so they can do some serious punishment for file sharing. Maybe they will propose prison terms? 1 month per song shared?

And do you really think they will pay attention to the "barred"? get real.

You Obama zombies are idiots if you don't see the writing on the wall at this point. Every single one of you with the same defense, "Let's see where this goes before we judge the thing that is obviously happening". My goodness he could be standing with a gun to your head screaming obscenities at you and you'd tell everyone to wait and see where his angry gun pointing goes; like you honestly believe when he pulls the trigger that rainbows and unicorns are going to shoot out the other side of your head.

Umm. He's been in office for less than 3 months. He hasn't even reached the much ballyhooed "First 100 Days" milestone. Give the man a chance.

We gave the last dude 8 long years to bring us to the brink of disaster...let's give the man at least 1/10th of that time to fix the missteps of the last 3 decades, shall we?

This isn't about him not having fixed everything in 3 months, in which case that argument MIGHT make sense. This is about the fact that he is not even pretending to not break several of his "critical" campaign promises in addition to throwing money after money into business' that are still going to fail anyway among other things.

You don't blame someone for not being instantly sober the moment he stops drinking, but you also don't let a drunk continue to drive his car under the auspices that the drunk just hasn't had enough time to prove he's not drunk.

What?

Oh Wait. I get it. It's one of those "known knowns" and "unknown knowns" type things. Well then. Carry on.

Little to complicated for you Kapil? I'll break it down for you. You're guy is the equivalent of the anchor of the news at 6. He read what he was told, he called on who he was told to call on, and he made you feel good about it. Now you with your reliance on emotions are willing to let him do dumb things, many contrary to what he promised, because he makes you feel good.

You say give him time, he's driving us off a cliff. He has no plan beyond keep spending money, assume there will always be someone to bail us out with credit, and hope that we figure out a way to boost tax revenues before the shit hits the fan. The GOP did the same thing (and it was wrong there), but Obama has just increased the spending by an order of magnitude unseen ever before.

How long will it take you to figure this out? Will it be when he jacks your taxes up even though he promised not to? Or will you still defend him?

You're letting your partisanship show again.

Don't worry, we all get the idea that you'll be voting (R) till the end of time.

Try coming up with a better argument next time, I'm much more complicated than your pitiful attempt at marginalization can handle.

At what point did I ever say Obama was to blame for everything? I gave you the benefit of the doubt; in fact up until today I had respect for you (unlike Kapil) even tho your opinions drastically differ from mine. Whatever, keep pretending that throwing all that money to business that are going to go under anyway is productive. Perhaps you won't notice when the Federal government can't find anyone to lend them money; hope you have a lot of stuff to barter with.

Have fun being a partisan tool.

Yeah, yeah. It's easy to bash the stimulus, hey, everybody's doing it (even the people responsible for it) but at least lay blame where blame is due, and that's NOT at Obama's feet.

Talking to the mirror, eh?

Good luck with that. The stone throwing began in earnest the second the election results were in.

I don't know why people defend either party. It's quite clear the President is never in charge of the country's affairs. Doesn't matter whether it's R or D in charge, people/groups/organizations behind the scenes run the show.

That's why nothing changes from one guy to the next. The whole R vs D thing is to keep people divided thinking 'their' guy could always do it better when if 'their' guy was in office he would be taking us to the same place(think golf swings folks).

People need to put their faith in someone/something else besides politicians or a system that has proven itself corrupt time and time again.
