Stalled Connections with WZR 2-G300n?

Hi, I have a Buffalo WZR 2-G300n wireless 11n router and it seems that I have had a lot of problems with my connections. I think it has to do with this router.

First, it seems that I have a slow download speed when connected though the router. I am on a Verizon DSL 3mbps plan, I typically get download speed of around 1200-1500kbps when connected through router and 2800+mpbs when connected directly to the modem. Is this pretty typical of throughput for the router connection?

Also, it seems that the router stalls downloads, if I download a clip from YouTube (for example) I usually get about 1/3 to 1/2 of the clip right away and then it pauses for a while (sometimes a long while) till I get the rest of the clip. However, I do not experience that when connected directly to modem.

Has anyone else experienced this type of performance? My wireless connections seem to be consistent with my wired connections.

Re: Stalled Connections with WZR 2-G300n?

OK, so the problem is definitely the router. I dug out and hooked up my old 11.b router (Speedstream ss2623, I even forgot I had this) and I got much better results with consistent downloads of 2800+ Right where I should be! Also, no noticeable stalls or dropouts.

So, I guess I am in the market for a new wireless router and I am staying away from Buffalo regardless of the reviews.

I figured I'd point out that buffalo has a support forum on their site: »forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/b···.id=0102 in case there might be something helpful for you there.

Re: Stalled Connections with WZR 2-G300n?

Thanks for the link, I am aware of their support forum and they tried to help me but they kept coming back saying it wasn't the router.

I ended up changing out the Buffalo for a D-Link DIR 655 and haven't had any issues since, it connects at full speed and no drop-outs, so we will see.

Personally, I think this router is in a dire need for a firmware upgrade but I don't know if Buffalo is planning any in the future. One thing I noticed is that the Buffalo router had a much better range than the D-Link. However, I just couldn't connect!

I've heard about problems with the new buffalos. I've been eyeing them, although I'm eyeing the dlink with the dual band for N. The thing that makes me want the buffalo is the high powered amp model they just released, and the fact that dd-wrt should run on it eventually. glad to hear the dlink works for you.
