I was merely pointing out the fact that one day it was there and the next day it was gone. I bought the Dir-655 for it's routing capabilities and the N is just a bonus.
I am lucky I never hooked up my son's DS to my wireless network. He won't know what he is missing. |

 | reply to tipstir said by tipstir:said by FrostyMelon:said by Youngjm:If it was not for the QOS due to my VOIP, I would be moving on completely. It looks like I will keep my v3 at 1.22 for the rest of its useful life and/or until my daughters Nintendo DS and my Palm TX die as I still need a network that supports 802.11b There is really nothing wrong with sticking to the same firmware for the perceived life cycle of the product within your home. Most end users do not even bother with firmware updates when there are no problems...we could probably say most end users don't bother with firmware updates period. So, sticking with what works and not worrying about it...nothing wrong with that. None work right they're all beta. Un-tested hardware for 802.11n wireless. That's why G routers don't have all these updates and issues/problems. Might as well cash it in! Make the router wired gig and get something that works wireless as access point. If I use it as wired router no issues If I use another router as wireless access point I am okay sure I don't have 150/300 feature but until that get worked out just going to sit and watch if it works then it works if doesn't work flash the firmware. This is partially what I am doing. I am using the DIR 655 for my B and G networks both secure and guest, DHCP, Firewall, and QOS. ( I turned off N). Then I wire to an Airport Extreme running N. The Airport Extreme has a WD 500GB drive plugged in to it for my Time Machine Backup. Very stable at this point. |

1 edit | said by FrostyMelon:^It's back in, not sure why they didn't add it to notes I would assume that since they removed all records of 1.30, which removed 'b', then one would never know that 'b' was ever removed? Did I say 'removed' enough in that sentence? ('one' being anyone who does not read these boards...) |
