QLM tricks and SID list

I have been searching around the net looking for anything I can do to make my service perform better from 8pm-12pm EST. I've found some pretty neat things you can do that may or may not be what alltel/verizon wants you doing..

I may edit this later to contain pics but for now I actually need a little help! I've found many SID's to use but only a few have a location attached to them. I need people's help to compile a better list of SIDs. First I'll throw out the stuff you need to know. There may be more things you can do that you can include if it isn't here.

1. Open QLM (Quick Link Mobile) but do not connect.
2. Hover over QLM and hit Cntrl + D
3. A "password" screen will come up. You have 2 choices here. Either enter 000000 (6 Zero's) or diagsmsi.
3a. 000000 will bring up the activation window with a few options you can change, namely: SID, PRL, and the activation code. You can change your PRL and SID here usually just fine but you'll need to enter in 000000 again for the activation code for it to "activate". If it won't activate it's probably due to the PRL.
3b. Typing in diagsmsi will bring up the "Support" window. This has Manual Activation, Mobile IP, and Field Test. Mobile Ip lets you change from mobile off, mobile preferred, or mobile only. Field Test has a bunch of stuff I don't know much about but could be useful for finding a sweet spot for antenna placement.
4. While hovering over QLM, Cntrl + T will open a window where you can set baud and flow control, I don't mess with it.

There that's all I've figured out so far. If you know of anything else you can do or any other passwords/activation codes to try, feel free to post. If you do not know what an SID is or what it's good for than you shouldn't be messing around with stuff. Now As for the SID's, I've found a list of Alltel SID's but I need help tracking these down. Either from a link to a site that can help or your own SID with your general location where your tower may be would help. I will put the list in a reply.

BTW: I HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU SCREW SOMETHING UP!

Here are the SIDs I've found so far. I will add/change any that are wrong or add new ones if you know them. That's where the help is needed. If you have any to add or give a location on, please reply and I'll update the list. *HINT* You can see your SID from the 'about QLM' from help menu.

Now Ive changed the PRL numerous times and have great results, esp with a Verizon one.. but never the SID.. what advantages do I have to changing the SID?

Well to be honest my connection had been so erratic that I don't think I could get any type of clear results out of changing the SID. I recently moved my antenna to a different part of the house with some improvements on it's own, but I'll have to play with the PRL/SID some more now that I found a better signal.

Afaik, you can't change the sid. It is carrier assigned and isn't like the prl that you can change. You can have a couple different sids for a location but they are from different carriers. Like my Alltel one is 244 and the Verizon on is 1751.

you sure you replied to the right post? I CAN change my SID and PRL. Like I said, I can't really tell if it helped as the connection is so erratic to begin with. I have gotten a performance increase by moving it to opposite corner of house so it could just be that. Here is something from this morning I caught. This was after switching my SID. 3 bars of signal, -75/76db RSSI:

That's pretty good I think. Speedtest.net only gives me a .3-.4mb upload speed but this is an actual 100mb upload to youtube.

You can enter any number you want for a sid in activation, but check the fieldtest and see. You only have the sid that you are assigned.

bah yah I'm seeing that now. Why the hell won't it change? Why give that option if it doesn't work? The PRL does change I think though.

I first thought that to when I got wireless, but I found out that in the fieldtest mode which is the one that matters you can't. I would guess it is set up that way for an agent or store to program it for you?

as i understand it, the SID showing in the field is the SID of the tower/network you are connecting into, and is not listing your "home SID".

if you are at your address of activation, and on your home network (alltel tower) they will match.
