Still a rumor...

Sling Media has said that they've not heard anything from Apple. It's all still up in the air.

Personally I would not be surprised if this app was banned. It doesn't matter that other phones on AT&T's network have been Slinging for quite some time now, because AT&T has no control over what those people install on their phones. With the iPhone, it is truly a closed system.

As the owner of both a Slingbox Solo and an iPhone, I won't be happy if this app gets banned -- simply because I would like to at least be able to use it over wi-fi! My hope is that, if the app really does get banned, they'll resubmit it as a wi-fi only app. Won't be as useful, but it'd be better than nothing.

Which makes another great case for jailbreaking the iPhone. If the app is not allowed on the app store you can bet it will show up on Cydia/Installer.

Hey, a closed system that has over 34,770 apps. More than any other mobile platform! Think you will see Sling anytime soon an any VZW BB? No!

This story is foolish as it is based on nothing. Only an anonymous tipster to a flame bait website. Sling has already said they have no knowledge as to being rejected from Apple!!

Two things:

1) It's these "flame baits" that actually bring a pre-uprising to the table and companies DO see them and react. With out them, I'll admit, companies will steam all over everyone and you wake up one day when it does happen and then it's too late.

2) Will you see sling on VZW BB? Sure.. do they have any Windows Mobile phones? If so.. they already have sling. I've been using Sling on my Moto 9Q on Sprint with the Sling app for Windows Mobile and it works pretty good.

So, the fact that the App Store is blocking the app, it's pretty clear that there is merit to the flame and people have a right to be upset.

As I said above, I use the iTouch which is pure wifi.. explain why that is being blocked. The iTouch is nothing more than an iPhone with out the phone side.. or, the iPhone is an iTouch WITH a phone, so the apps are mostly universal except for those that need constant data or GPS to work.

It's hardly based on nothing. Just a few days ago, slinging video was banned in the TOS until AT&T was properly embarrassed into changing their mind.

There, fixed it for you. It's not fact but speculation from some rumor website.
