| Data retention laws are expensive and could hurt privacy Governments and individuals tend to use and abuse data collected, even when they aren't supposed to. I don't want to have some schmo looking through my ISP records to embarrass me in some message board argument. If I did anything embarrassing, of course 
Someone has to pay for the data retention, and it's either going to be the consumer through higher fees, or the taxpayer who subsidizes it. |
