Trouble - Internet Connection

For over a week I have been having problems staying connected online using AT&T DSL. Usually I get disconnected within 15 minutes after getting reconnected through modem reboot. Usually the modem will either completely die or go red until I reboot the modem again.

I would like to know how to fix this problem. I have used both Vista and Windows 7 Beta and have come across the same problem with both.

What kind of modem do you have, and how long have you had it? Where do you have your PPPoE client set up? Is it on the modem, a router or on the computer? From what you describe, it sounds like the modem may be damaged. If it works when you reboot it, because it's getting a chance to cool down. But, then stops working after about 15 minutes probably because it's getting too hot. It sounds like the modem is toast to me. The chip inside the modem was on its last leg and just can't stand the heat anymore, so it just shuts down. So it worked fine over two weeks ago and then all of a sudden it just started acting up, right? Did you change any modem settings with in the last couple of weeks that could possibly be causing the problems? If you didn't change anything, then it's a hardware problem. DSL modems are notorious for over heating.
