Re: SB51XX...different models...where can I find the differences

The QAM isn't available with the current SB5101 firmware that Cox HSI uses, either.

Got ya, it looks like the original poster's ISP is Comcast, as is mine. As you can see in the screenshot, the Downstream QAM is not available on the diagnostic with the Comcast distributed firmware.

Depends on what firmware your ISP is distributing.

The SBxxxx series show the Downstream QAM on the diagnostic page.
Diagnostic page? Can't find it on this SB5101

Thanks. So does the SB5101's newer chipset have the upstream issues fixed?

Also is there anyway to know if comcast has me on 256QAM?
What upstream issue are you referring to?

The SBxxxx series show the Downstream QAM on the diagnostic page.

»Comcast High Speed Internet FAQ »What are the differences between the Motorola SB5100, SB5101 & SB5120?

SBer

@comcast.net

I'm trying to buy a cable modem, most people I know are happy with their surfboard. Where can I find something that compares the different SB51XX models so I can understand the differences between them and make my choice?

If there's anything glaring or obvious between the 3 that would cause anyone to choose one over the other hands-down, please feel free to share that too.

Thanks.
