anon posted : It mite be something with the NAT type being strict.
I have this problem also with my 10 year old model smc7004abr... I tried to open up the ports to open my NAT only to find out my unluckyness as the port 88 is used for management already. This port allows port forwarding to the xbox 360.

Ninjamsprime posted : It was probably a topic before so forgive my non-savvyness (if that is a word) BUT...

I've gotten this router/modem/WhateverItIs from a friend who liquidated his equipment, he said it would run my Xbox live fine... so I bought it. He said it was from Rogers and was one of their newest models?

SMC8014W-G Broadband Wireless Gateway without a Manual

Now when I am online VIA XBOX360 I can't seem to "Experience" Xbox Live to it's full effect... it feels like I am running off the old 56k modem playing Diablo 1.

Examples:
Gears of War 2 gives me a notice I am behind a firewall, my shotgun blasts appear 2-3 seconds after sweet release (you try timing that in multiplayer, skills I tell ya) :D

Halo Wars won't find me a teammate, opponent, anything... just lets me know its 'attempting to join'. Thanks for that Halo Wars. :hmm:

Left 4 Dead is exactly that online, I'm either kicked by my peers as per lag, or... I am left alone... and a hunter/smoker 'Hunts or Smokes' me, then I spectate for a bit then leave. :uhh:

End Examples:

Again, I apologize for the length-of-post AND my lack-of-knowledge but I was wondering if any of you vast intellectuals and budding world leaders would have an idea how to fix this issue or even identify the issue for myself. (Without the typical 'BUY A NEW ROUTER' response)

Was the Gears of War 2 prompt correct? And if so, where would I go from there to knock out this firewall?

Any help would be much appreciated and would in fact make me love you truly, madly, deeply.

TYVM 4 UR TIME :)
