| My PS3 is waiting
I'll be glad when they get on the stick with PS3 support. I've been waiting for a reason to switch from Blockbuster Online but Netflix's Blu-Ray upcharges made me rethink the switch. If they hurry up, I might actually have a reason to switch again.
And it'll give me more ammunition in our fight against Time Warner bandwidth caps here in the Triad/Greensboro market!

Saxapahaw, NC | Yes. The downside is it isn't the same quality due to the required transcoding. Native Netflix support on PS3s will resolve that problem. For now it's just easier to hook my laptop up the TV via HDMI if I wanted to do it.

It's also a pretty fragile application. Anything other than pause or play seems to freeze it up pretty fast.
I like it and it works as an interim solution, but native support in the PS3 would be better. |

I thought it was still Flash and I just assumed they created some sort of Flash proxy that would proxy the content to the DLNA device.
I've used other apps (like TVersity and Orb) that want to transcode everything and it destroys quality. |

Same and same...thought the PS3 Media Server kicks ass  They (Netflix) needs to get with Google if they're going to do it, as they've got it figured out....though isn't Silverlight a MS thing? Yeah.....that'll happen. |

I used to have netflix blue-ray service, but price hikes made me cancel it. Now I download mp4 content and play it natively on PS3. It also does decent job on divx / xvid.
I would rather have PS3 netflix solution for convenience, but I guess they don't want my money.

Dang! You beat me to it. I've been using it for about a week now. Works great and logs in to Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and Amazon video.
It works great with the PS3 and works pretty well with the DirecTV HR-21 boxes (the minor issues I've had I'm sure are related to the DTV box and the fact that that stuff is still "beta").
I even tested PlayOn with my Archos 5 over my wi-fi. Works like a charm!

It's not open source, but MS doesn't charge a licensing fee for it. It's also superior to Flash (Flash in it's current form anyway) in every way imaginable minus ubiquity. Microsoft even worked with Novell to make sure it was developed for the Linux platform. (Moonlight)
Silverlight is absolutely a good direction for MS to take. |

The UPnP media server does work well, it's all the other features that don't. If you want to just use it as a UPnP media server, it will work well. |
