You do know Silverlight is free right? It's not open source, but MS doesn't charge a licensing fee for it. It's also superior to Flash (Flash in it's current form anyway) in every way imaginable minus ubiquity. Microsoft even worked with Novell to make sure it was developed for the Linux platform. (Moonlight)

I've been using it for about a week now. Works great and logs in to Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and Amazon video.

It works great with the PS3 and works pretty well with the DirecTV HR-21 boxes (the minor issues I've had I'm sure are related to the DTV box and the fact that that stuff is still "beta").

I even tested PlayOn with my Archos 5 over my wi-fi. Works like a charm! :D

Now I download mp4 content and play it natively on PS3. It also does decent job on divx / xvid.
I would rather have PS3 netflix solution for convenience, but I guess they don't want my money.

I have a paid version of Playon working with my PS3 as well, but don't believe it will be a long term solution. That makes sense. I thought it was still Flash and I just assumed they created some sort of Flash proxy that would proxy the content to the DLNA device.
