| 1. I can get 30 mbit download with PowerBoost over my current cable connection. Which is DOCSIS 1.1. Granted, that doesn't happen 80% of the time but it's possible. 2. Above about 15 Mbps per second, I'd much rather have increased upload than download. I'll take 15/5 over 30/2 any day of the week. If a file I need is *that big* and I need it *that quickly* I'll probably have to do some major editing/uploaidng of said file soon after.
Oh, and how much are you paying for your 30/2 connection? Almost forgot to ask that. FiOS is $60/month for 20/5, $70/month for 20/20. Guess what I'd take on 100/10 vs. 20/20? You guessed it, 20/20. Unfortunately 99.9% of servers out there are on 100 Mbit connections so getting 2.5 MB/s downloads and uploads is going to make my day a lot better than downstream speeds I'll have a hard time saturating due to "the other end".
Again, I'll maintain that after about 15 Mbps per second, today's applications don't see a discernable performance improvement in 99.9% of cases. However this 15 Mbps applies for both download and upload speeds. Guess which one HFC has so far been unable to do in more than a halfhearted manner? |

Isn't your cable usage capped, and how often does it actually reach 30Mbit? |
