Is Hawaiian Telcom upgrading their DSL network at all?

How many of you guys have 3Mbps or at least 7Mbps? I'm in the Liliha area and I'm still stuck at 1.5Mbps. It's been nearly two years since Hawaiian Telcom began 'offering' 7Mbps and 11Mbps, but I haven't seen any change in speed since then. I'm beginning to lose faith in them. Does anyone have any insider info on whether Hawaiian Telcom is really upgrading its network or if it's just a publicity stunt?

I have 11Mbps HT DSL service here in Kona. However I live 3750 feet from the central office serving my area. It is very possible that you live too far away from the CO/RT.

I know someone here in Kona who is in a similar situation. The only difference is that he is on the outer fringes for 1.5Mbps service. Thus he gets poor speeds.

The official line from HT is 50% of their customers can qualify for 7 or 11Mbps service.

Like Konaguy said it might be due to how far you are from the CO meaning your Line length HT is upgrading their DSL offerings because of what is coming down later in their offerings from what I know. Older neighborhoods are slowly getting upgraded also from what I hear and new developments are getting Fiber to the Home or FTTH but of course that takes time and money so I don't expect it to come really fast. But their service is unbelievable I had mine installed and could only get 1.5 due to I am over 10,000 feet from the CO the HT Tech who came out told me he would see if I can make my line quality better so I would have at least stable service and changed the line all the way from the street to my home and replaced the NID on my house my line came clean enough that I could get 3Mbs service and my home is over 20+ years old.
