Re: [POLL] Who will you VOIP with when AT&T pulls the CV plug?

Well, I decided to just go with Cox since I have them for cable t/internet already. The price jump wasn't anywhere near what I feared. Since I have so many service levels with them already (digital cable, premium channels, HD service, DVR, internet) the plan will only cost me $10 for 6 months then $20 after that. That's for unlimited nationwide and the Solutions feature package. I went in and talked to them face to face since I had to switch my DVR anyway.

I had really gotten used to CV and it's one of few IT services I will truly miss. The Cox guy is supposed to be here tomorrow morning.

I'm just now making the transition to Vonage. I have my TA box from them and have it setup and can dial out. I'm waiting for the CV side to release my (CV) phone number over.

I tried to see if U-verse was in my area and NO. And then when I confirmed that AT&T asked if I wanted regular service and I told her NO, I got rid of my dial tone already and don't want to go back I have dry-loop from AT&T DSL.

So far Vonage looks like they have their act together. I got the TA box very quickly. It has an LCD, has a smaller footprint and doesn't look "clunky" the was that Centrillon (sp?) box does. The only snag was when Vonage emailed me that I needed to change my phone service to be dry DSL and I had to rather strongly impress upon them that my DSL was already "dry". It sounded like AT&T was snagging it up.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed now since the last status update on my Vonage Dashboard says "Carrier Approved Transfer" under my phone number transfer status...

Cheers,

I'm all setup. No issues. Caller ID didn't work right away but Cox fixed that within a few minutes.

Pluses: The caller ID shows up on the TV screen which is really cool. You can review missed calls thru the TV. I think the call quality is better than ATT, which I didn't have much problem with to begin with.

Minuses: I already miss not getting voicemail forwarded to my email account. I really hope they change that.

Overall impression is that I'll be pretty happy with it.
