| [Juniper] Shared parentage between S-Box and NetScreen?
A few weeks ago, I came across a SofaWare (part of CheckPoint) S-Box Internet Security Appliance at a swapmeet. Yesterday, I found a NetScreen Technologies (apparently now part of Juniper) ISA. Externally and internally, both units seem quite similar. I'm curious: Did NetScreen come up with the hardware design first, and SofaWare licensed it, or was SofaWare the originator and NetScreen the licensee or perhaps were both units offshoots from some "parent" I have yet to run across?
Does anyone have some historical info to contribute?
I do see a very definite philosophical difference between the 2 companies in the software area: SofaWare provides relatively few settings that can be tweaked, while NetScreen/Juniper gives the user a quite large amount of setup options.
