yes, you can put both on the same channel.
If you have PCs simultaneously using both due to where they are, it's best to put them on different channels, choosing among channel #1, 6 or 11. If you have a neighbor who has very heavy traffic on his WiFi that enters your house, avoid getting within 3 channels if that one.

Your client PCs should, but many don't, choose the strongest signal on your SSID. Some client software allows you to choose the access point you want, but this isn't standard in windows default software.

I'm going to try running both on the same channel and see if I run in to any problems. I'll report back how it goes.

edit: Update....I've got both a/p's on channel 11 now. My Blackberry Bold seems to like it and laptops haven't had any problem yet.
