After the SBC takeover of the original ATT, they pulled some of the talented developers of CV into their Uverse Voice platform. If you look at the UVV service offering and feature set, many of CallVantage's best features are among those listed.

As for the other BYOB offerings, I do think the business offerings are the best/only ATT options for anyone outside the UVV service area, but obviously, AT&T isn't pushing them for residential use. They weren't even mentioned in the disconnect letters.

Looking to take my primary line either to Voipo or VoicePulse. VoicePulse will probably win my business, at least in the short term, because they have had years to "perfect" their system, while Voipo is relatively early on that curve. To me, both services are worth looking into, if you have simple needs and want a "managed device" (provided, provisioned/programmed by provider) type service.
