 | reply to awluck I am in 650 (Palo Alto, CA) My dsl was up briefly an hour ago but is again down. It is via Covad through AT&T at CO PLALCA12 (CLLI code).
I am currently connected via dialup, 48 kbps instead of my usual 310 kbps dsl service.
My dsl modem appears to be synced. It is a legacy SpeedStream 5360.
Using the dialup I am able to access email via WebMail and download messages.
The button links to:
»support.earthlink.net/ »www.earthlink.net/
do not connect.
Perhaps this information will tell some more informed member what is going on.

 | reply to awluck How are you getting webmail to work? I'm in the 408 area code (San Jose, CA area) and webmail is still coming up with the maintenance page. Can't get in.

 | reply to awluck Interestingly, one of my Earthlink hosted domain's emails are up, available and downloading just fine. My other EL hosted domain emails are still not availabe - showing Errors.
Weird, right?

Re: Dead ? (not any more!) The ELN failure this morning coincided with or caused a browser crash here - or it may be that the restart necessary after the crash disclosed the email client's inability to connect to my ELN hosted domain's email services.
The inability to connect to those services persisted until after 5:30 PM local (central) time. When I checked again, at 8:00 pm central, all of my ELN services were available.
Still no word on what happened from ELN?
I do have one hangover problem - at least one piece of mail visible through webmail has not downloaded to the local client - and I don't know how to get it to do so. |

Re: Dead ? Looks like the wrong Earthlink there. That appears to be a completely unrelated company.
I say that because the link you provided has this detail:
quote: "Satellite is a key technology for bringing the Internet to many countries like Iraq," said Sarmad Ahmed, general manager at EarthLink Telecommunications. "By minimizing latency and packet delivery challenges that can hamper satellite based services, Silver Peak ensures the best possible Internet experience to EarthLink Telecommunication's customers.
That is about a company called EarthLink Telecommunications at »www.earthlinktele.com
»www.iraqinet.net/com/4/earthlink.htm
Our Earthlink isn't in Iraq..... Yes, and BBR has it too! And BBR didn't just reprint a Network World Article like Computer World did.

Personal web page will not load (mindspring) My login to Earthlink is a mindspring account. The Personal Web pages seem to be unavailable. I have tried mine and others. I found that mine and most others are not there "Internal Server Error". But there was at least one mindspring personal web page that was active. I also checked several Earthlink Personal Web Pages and they all were working.
Whats up ?

Our company e-mails and DNS is down. Going to go pay a visit to the legal dept for possible legal action. So, how is "legal action" going to fix your problem? Is that the only thing you can think of? As the saying goes, "If the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." |

I can ping DNS servers altho the delay seems much larger. In the 80 ms range. Normally 20MS range. It's most likely because EarthLink's West Coast DNS in Pasadena went down; the long ping times from San Francisco are probably to their East Coast DNS, wherever that is, maybe Atlanta. |

It was more than simple DNS issues. Even users of alternate DNS IPs as seen in the FAQ below had trouble back when this now resolved topic was active.
