| A few questions about business class internet...
So I have been finding myself approaching the 250GB cap quite a bit for the last few months. I called Comcast to inquire about business class internet and was pleasantly surprised that to get the fastest service in my area (16meg) and a single static IP address it would only be $25 more than what I am paying now per month.
I read the TOS but I have two questions that I want to ask to confirm the information Comcast gave me is correct.
1. Does business class internet not have a bandwidth cap? Am I going to be able to download 2TB of information per month if I want to?
2. Can I run any type of server that I want to? Mostly looking at a web and FTP server.

The TOS has the same language concerning bandwidth consumption as the residential, with the exception that the residential terms provide that Comcast cannot restrict or terminate a user for any usage under 250 GBytes per month, In principle, business class could have a cap lower than 250 GBytes. |

| Well, it's pretty clear that they have not "cared" about any accounts for several months, unless folks have been getting letters and not coming here to complain, which seems unlikely.
The reality is that we have no idea what Comcast is actually going to do with respect to caps on either residential or business, and we won't know until they start doing it.
Add in the mystical, mythical, bandwidth meter, and one has to wonder if they themselves have any idea what they are going to do. |

Seems they haven't cared about it since they started rolling out their "evil" traffic prioritization system that was going to bring about the end of the Internet.

As was noted by another poster above, it looks like Comcast has not sent any letters recently, as in this year.
Today is yard waste day. I have 30 bags and 16 containers. They will pick uup only 15. That is an absolute cap. Comcast's "limit", until someone suggests a better term, is that can take action against you if you are overloading their network. In response to numerous complaints and legal action by the Attorney General of Florida, they agreed to (and added to their TOS) the provision that they would not take action against any residential customer that was using less than 250 GBytes. The TOS for business is the same, except that they are free to set a different limit, and it can be smaller than 250 GBytes.
To me, in my comprehension of the English language, that means there is no cap on either service. Others on this forum will no doubt be along to disagree.
It appeats that Comcast has not sent any letters this year. |

although the bad PR the truth is more of a protection of you from them (as before they could just say you didi it bye but now you atleast have to go over 250) |

1 edit | reply to inXorable Business Class has NO caps. And according to my friend who works for Comcast, they never had and they never will for business class. It is a premium service and with that service comes things residential doesn't have...no caps, tier 1 support, web hosting, etc. |

The business TOS has the same provisions as the residential TOS.
Your friend does not have the power to modify the terms of the contract. |

join:2002-08-31 Huntsville, AL | reply to inXorable It's in the TOS, but higher ups at Comcast have said that they have no plans to cap Business accounts, but it's in the TOS in case they change their mind. Comcast is simply covering their butts in case they ever do put caps on Business accounts. |

People on business accounts have been asked to move to commercial (ie, direct fiber) accounts if they have abnormally high usage. |
