I always find it fascinating how the first competitor iPhone users target is Research in Motion and their Blackberry device. Comparing these devices are like Apple's and Orange's. The Blackberry was first created to target business users and it now focusing on also getting regular consumers as well.

We all know Apple and their computers are overpriced. Some people use the excuse that "Macs just work" out of the box. That argument is absurd. PC's work right out of the box as well. Apple is more about the look of the case rather than anything else, and that in part goes to the cost of the computer. I do not see how anyone, in this economy, can justify the expense. Some will though. They cannot pay their bills, but they can manage to pay Apple for an overpriced piece of junk.

The iPhone is built on hype. Everyone who rushed to get one, myself included got it, and then the hype faded, and we were stuck with a device that really is worthless. Someone made a remark about AT&T pricing. AT&T has to pay Apple not only for the cost of the devices, which they subsidize in exchange for a two year contract, but Apple also gets a percentage of the wireless revenue. Before you go blaming AT&T, why do you not go blame Apple? Their greed is what is creating the increase in pricing. You saw what the outcome was when they went to Verizon with that ridiculous idea of getting a percentage of the revenue. Verizon balked.

There will also be those people that claim that the 3G issues are AT&T related and not Apple related, but I must say that my Bold never has an issue with connectivity, but my iPhone 3G always has issues. If I am not at home (where I have to use Wifi to get anything done with my iPhone) then my device is utterly useless. My Blackberry never has an issue.

Apple has got the iPhone users hooked, and their too foolish to realize this. Apple creates a very large quantity of iPhone's but they create shortages to trump up demand. Their stores get the bulk of the inventory while they trickle out the remainder to the AT&T stores. Sony tried the same crap with the PS/3 and it ended up biting them in the ass.

The iPhone is just a passing fad, and I feel that when more Android devices are available and more users are able to see what it can do, the interest in the iPhone will wane.

I supposed I'm hooked. But am I foolish? I highly doubt it. I like the device, it does what I need it to do and it looks nice. If a better device comes along in the future and is attractive enough for me to take a look, then I would consider it. But for now, I have what I want and I'm happy with it. It really is that simple.

I prefer not to engage in an iphone vs (this or that) phone battle, it's nonsense. Some people really just need to grow up and accept the fact that not everyone will like the same device they do. I'd rather just buy me an iPhone instead of trying to buy an "iphone killer". If you like another phone, good for you. You're a satisfied customer of that phone. Do you really have the need to go bash other devices?

The only reason I mentioned the blackberry was because quite a few friends of mine have them. And several of my friends have iphones. The ones with blackberries call us the iphone group. However, we don't feel the need or urgency to call them anything.

Apple receiving monthly wireless service revenues from ATT, now that I didn't know about. ATT's wireless plans cost the same for other devices as it does for the iphone. I'm sure ATT paid a good price to keep the iphone exclusive but that's business.

It's very difficult to find a more objective opinion about the iPhone, or any Apple product. When the first line of a comment begins with the author mentioning his life-long relationship with Apple products, I know to expect only heaps of praise and veiled insults to anyone that makes disparaging rebukes about those products. It works both ways. It seems the worst thing about the iPhone is that it's an Apple device, which is a bit silly.

That is because you are better than the BlackBerry users, right?

I don't think I can agree with you. I have a Blackberry (2nd one) and I love it. My wife got a iPhone and I now have a iPod touch. I love the way the iPod works with exchange. The Apple device is far easier to work with and the applications are more robust. It is a phone/computing tablet. I have to say I would seriously consider replacing my Blackberry later this year.

Don't you find it equally fascinating how Research in Motion themselves target one device when it comes to new product design and features as well (yep...the iPhone)?

Palm is in the same boat, with their soon-to-be-released "iPhone killer", Palm Pre. (I like this one) Since its inception, the iPhone has made an enormous impact on the design decisions on practically every new wireless phone being developed, smartphone or otherwise.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...unless it borders on copyright infringement.

You cannot make a sound comparison about how the iPhone works with exchange unless you also tested your Blackberry, with exchange, and to do that, the way it was intended, you would need to join your Blackberry to an BES server.

That is how I use my Blackberry. It is corporately provided. It is good. I just am preferring the apple versatility. Case in point I am typing this on the touch right now.

Yes...alright. The most important feature on the phone is the App store. Apps make the iPhone (or any other device) so much more useful and less limiting.
