It looks like a cool app and according to their faq is uninstallable via add/ remove. |

I know some people don't like to do this but I always buy from Dell Outlet. Never had problems.

Mine still shows the full 3GB of system, but vid card shows 1.5GB.

The 9400M has 256MB of dedicated memory too and the 9200M can use system RAM (hence why my system reports 3.7GB instead of the full 4.0GB).
That is a good comparison though as most people are reporting the "9500M G" is as fast as the 8400M GT, only a little lighter on power.

What sucks about Hybrid SLI is that you can't use the standard nVidia drivers. So my video card driver is ancient (by nVidia standards) -- it's the 17X series rather than the latest 18X series. Dell JUST released a new version May 9th too ... and it's still old as dirt. |

It really depends on what you want to accept as your playing level on WoW. If you want to run around Dalaran getting 60 fps on max resolution and max setting it's going to cost (see my thread). If you can live with lower settings then you can play with integrated graphics. I didn't want any drop off from my desktop to my notebook. Just like playing WoW the game can be played as hard, fast, or slow as you want it to. That's the genius of it.

I never said WoW would need a Cray.
As pictured, my 3 year old VAIO could run WoW at pretty high(Max?) settings with a 7600.
Anything new would have a bit more than a 7600 card in it, right?
Nearly any new computer with a dedicated(and even some integrated) graphics will play the hell out of WoW.
I was trying to convey that OP could get a pretty decent machine for $1000 that could play beefier games than WoW.
Hope this helps straighten out any confusion.

Yep, if you spring for a grand, you will easily get more than notebook enough!
As was mentioned, the biggest single feature would be to opt for whatever gives you the best graphics engine. Any notebook in the $700 - $1k range will have adequate CPU power, drive space, DVD burner, etc., so I would look at graphics card and screen quality.
The other thought of course is this: What form-factor will suit you best? 13.3 - 14.1 inch screens travel real nice, but if you aren't lugging it around (as in, it is in a car), then you may want to opt for a 15.4" to even a 17" screen for the added "real-estate".

If gameplay is more important than killer graphics and eye candy... yes you can do it!
DVDs and CDs - nearly anything with a drive can burn them.
Look for a dedicated video card with dedicated video RAM - it will just be better!
Some of the integrated video chips are getting decent... dedicated is better.

This is a 3 year old VAIO laptop with a Core Duo(not Core 2 Duo) 2.0GHz, nVidia 7600 GT and 2GB of RAM.
You can get something WAY better than this now.

| I need a laptop for wow as I am about to start traveling alot and going 10 days without being able to play is to long. I have no idea what to get or where to start. About the only thing i will be using it for is playing wow and watching anime and movies when i go out of town. Can anyone recommend something for under $1000 that can do this. I would also like to be able to burn DVDs and CDs I do not care about blue ray. |
