HughesNet is horrible. The connection always times out even when it is bright and sunny with not a cloud in the sky, and it is way overpriced. It's a miracle that I can even get on to write this. Bottom line, don't buy HughesNet unless you want to get cheated.
I agree, I'd get 56k (shotgun) before I'd get Hughes net. 56k x 2 worked quite well for anything but large downloads. ISDN is still overpriced alongside T1.
