Re: parsing data

I can't speak for Time Warner Cable, but in my area, Comcast and FiOS are practically the same price for internet, depending on how you translate the cable giant's PowerBoost feature. The 16/2 Blast! service is $52.95, which does not include the modem rental fee. Comcast claims this is up to 20/4 speeds, with PowerBoost used on first 20MB down and 10MB up. FiOS is $54.95 for their 20/5 service, and this includes the router cost.

The FiOS TV service is cheaper, provided you are getting all of the available channels. My Comcast Platinum package was significantly more each month than my current FiOS TV package with all of the premium movie channels. I am not on any special, bundled pricing plans, as I opted for the 50/20 speed tier ($89.95) which cannot be included in a bundled package.

The prices are going to be very competitive in areas where FiOS is located with either Comcast or TWC. When you take into account the savings from bundles in the first year or two, the amount saved is even more.

I have no allegiance to either Verizon or Comcast, and the current architecture makes it real simple for me to switch from one service to the other.

But comcast in our area doesn't come close to the 112+ HD channels that FIOS has. For me with the 50/20 FIOS tier and many more HD channels, there is no way Comcast can compete with FIOS
