Re: Not going to happen anytime soon.

Whats the big deal about the iPhone anyway. I have been doing those things on my windows phone for years! Granted it wasn't a cheap phone and they still arent. But then again I am not an iTunes fan either.

I had several WinMo phones before the iPhone. While the WinMo phones had more raw features, the iPhone is just in a different league in terms of overall ease of use and intuitiveness. Just the large multitouch screen coupled with a fast browser that has fluid panning, zooming and scrolling makes the iPhone worth it.

That's not to say the iPhone is perfect. Some things like MMS are inexcusibly overdue. But I'll pick a superior mobile web browsing experience over getting MMSes any day.

Don't forget the need for the iPhone to run Adobe Flash. Man, I can't believe they dropped the ball on that.

Even so, it's a great device. iPod Touch user here. I tried a Samsung Instinct and Blackberry Storm. Use either device then pick up an iPhone and you will immediately get what all the hype is about.

My utterly tech illiterate sister-in-law left Verizon for AT&T and the iPhone and she loves it. Conversely, my ultra tech savvy IBM buddy got an iPhone and also says the pros outweigh the cons. With iPods and Mac sales down, the iPhone kept profits up at Apple.

That is saying a lot about a device that hasn't reached its full potential

How about multitasking with a iPhone legally? Not happening, WiMo can minimize and multitask from day one. 3rd party apps and open source are also allowed on WiMo. How about copy pasting on iPhone? Java? Flash?

And still with all that not there it's busting records. If Iphone OS3 works as expected and new hardware comes down the pike. Watch out there will even be more people gladly giving up those hard earned dollars for this.

OpenSource? Look at Android been out for months on Tmo and just now getting some decent numbers. Lot of talk about more Android Handsets, all vaporware till the final drop.

I for one are torn between the Palm Pre or the New Iphone. Been with Tmo for years and on whole had great service. One area I'm in that is close to where I live is a Known Dead zone. Has been for years and not getting better by town restrictions. Now ATT and Sprint have better coverage there. Tmo is no service. Seeing that I'm spending more time there a switch is in the air. Just waiting for the new stuff before I jump.
