MFSA 2009-23 Crash in nsTextFrame::ClearTextRun()

"One of the security fixes in Firefox 3.0.9 introduced a regression that caused some users to experience frequent crashes. Users of the HTML Validator add-on were particularly affected, but other users also experienced this crash in some situations. In analyzing this crash we discovered that it was due to memory corruption similar to cases that have been identified as security vulnerabilities in the past"

Thanks

... Still wishing for 'normal' autocomplete on the address bar to return... Still hatin' the "awesome bar" and its irrelevant results (yes, even after every known tweak, add on, and then some). Praying for return of sane auto-completion in address bar in some version... Continually leaving feedback on their "Hendrix" page...

Will not happen.

You are aware you can change what is searched/suggested when typing in the addressbar though the Options Panel?

Options - Privacy - Location Bar (Select how you want Suggest to work)

Hmm, I heard it *may* be an option in a later version...
Still doesn't make any sense that this is completely unavailable... Maybe somebody could "hack" this functionality together - After all, I thought the whole point of "open source" software was that you could do as you like, as long as you share your work.

I've tweaked about:config all over the place, use "old location bar" add on, and have searched the web many times for solutions (none of which completely remove its algorithms from being used - they all seem to work around the problem).

I'd say it's a large awkward step backward, and just doesn't make any sense. Especially being forced to accept it - that's wrong. It seems more like a "closed" source approach, especially since the developers are refusing to provide an option to revert back to how things worked for ..um.. years...
It also seems like the antithesis of what "open source" is all about.

I'm done ranting, but seriously, I do hope this functionality will be available again, whatever it takes.

In the meantime, I'll get this latest update on at least a computer or two - I've got auto updates disabled because I hate it when I'm typing along and accidentally trigger an update...
Thanks again for posting the update here Nick!

I like the feature myself and find it very useful over the old way.

Last I read at bugzilla the old location bar was gone for good and only tweaking of the new address bar would be addressed due to the amount of time needed to put it back in as well as GUI changes but things could have changed. I do not read bugzilla every day.

IMO the easiest way to get back what you want is to build your own Fx and label it as 3rd Party as is done at MozillaZine for Unofficial Builds.
