I spoke with a Tier 3 Tech last night and he told me that they were having problems with the Santa Monica server (which affects the whole west side of LA) and were working on it....He also told me that all problems and higher speeds that should be constant will probably happen by mid-year, still due to the Adelphia switch-over in Socal. This guy knew his stuff and I believe was being totally honest with me.
This is good info, but what he didn't tell you is that they've been having serious problems with the west side of LA for more than a year, and don't have the corporate will (or talent) to fix it. That's why so many of us are going with FIOS now that it's available in SM and Venice.
I'm sitting here tonight with latency that nearly renders my connection unusable.
If I had FIOS in West Hollywood, I would switch to them today.....I don't have the latency problem in WEHO.....But have been having problems most days for the past year like you. The guy I spoke to wasn't Corporate though, so I was just going by my gut feeling that he was telling me what he knew. -- "That Which Does Not Kill Me Makes Me Stronger"!
