Re: Belkin N+F5D8325 wireless connection problem

If your WNIC dosn't support 20/40Mhz then set it to 20Mhz only this can help with performance dispite 20/40 seeming to be the better choice, problem with routers is you need to know the best settings for your NIC before you set your router to uber mode cos some times all you end up doing is clogging the airwaves for other people in the area from using their routers effectively.

If your using a G grade card then set it to 802.11G at 20Mhz
or if you have other devices such as Skype phones consoles and mobile phones then set the option to 802.11b/g/n but at 20Mhz only this can help too it's worked for me though the router i'm using isn't as good as my cheep d-link that i got for £30 a year ago only reason i switched is cos my modem burnt out.

I had the exact same problem with my F5D8236-4. I spoke with Belkin support and they had me change:

Wireless channel to 11
Bandwidth to 20/40 MHz
802.11e/WMM QoS to Off
Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to Disabled

It is working good so far.

Either this was a one off manufacturing fault, or an intrinsic but yet surfaced at large issue.

When the router was off and on again, wireless connection was non operational again.
Took the unit to retailer for tech support, it worked again.
Multiple on/off at shop did not yield any problem.

Decided to ask for an exchange to some other brand, namely 3COM. Seems that F5D8325 also has got issue with the modem connection (connection to modem/internet is lost; work around is available as discussed in this forum under some other headings BUT, why should a customer paying the premium for a supposedly reliable/high performance router have to operate a hardware that has got its own temper?).

My router is to make my life easier. I have no time to beg it to work for me. Nor is poorly designed/tested hardware. Hope you guys have better routing experience than mine in this case.

(BTW, my previous modem/router was a Belkin G, worked 24/7 and is good enough. This 8325 sort of tainted the Belkin reputation).

(And for those interested, the USB link to storage may also need persuasion to work properly- google before you buy for a clearer idea, esp if this is the feature drawing you to this product)

Best wishes.

@in-addr.arpa

I was having an odd issue with the wireless on this Belkin N+.
Got it set up all fine and working fine, had it left on all the time for about two weeks since new, then the wireless connectivity stopped functioning.

The wireless LED on the unit was off;
I can still see the SSID from my laptop, but I cannot successfully connect to it.
Restarting the router did not help.
Restoring to default settings did not help.
Updating firmware to x.x.22 did not help.

Then I had it powered off for a day and was giving it a last test before sending to Belkin support, it miraculously worked. The wireless is up and running again...

Anyone facing the same issue? Any specific remedy?

I would hate to think this being a heat issue on the hardware...
