 | ...And what if the ISP's don't comply? And what is to stop the gamblers from using a satelite ISP? And what is the recourse if a compliant ISP has a gambler who finds a site not filtered by the ISP? And what is the ISP compensated for being a net nanny? |

You forgot one: What's to stop them from VPNing to a proxy making any ISP level filtering moot?
In fact, there's probably a market in MN right now for VPN proxy servers. Be there first and make a mint! -- 9-11 Missed. |

If you think that the majority of people incarcerated are murderers, thieves, extortionists, etc. you need to read more. The majority of people in prison are there for non-violent drug offenses. If that's ok by you, wait 'til they make posessing long range radio transmitting equipment illegal in the name of national security. You'll be singing a different tune, I'm sure. -- 9-11 Missed. |

1 edit | I sit corrected.
Now prove that your encrypted packet transmissions aren't feeding information to the terrists, comrade.
I'd also be curious as to just how much of that violent crime is a direct result of the illicit profits generated by drug prohibition?

I guess I should have posed my original statement as a question. Do you equate Right and Wrong with Legal and Illegal?
Because something is legal, does that make it right? Conversely, if something is illegal, does that make it wrong? We can come up with any number of cases on both sides that give lie to those statements. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a proponent of anarchy, but putting one in every 100 people behind bars seems excessive to me.
How many of those people become products of the system who then have an even more difficult time in society? I don't know if you know any ex-cons, but prison changes them, changes them psychologically in ways that makes it hard for them to work productively in society.
How many of those people would be much better served with education, counseling, and therapy? Housing an inmate costs a minimum of $15k a year, most states pay much more. That money could go to teaching them how to support themselves and be functioning members of society.
I guess if that point of view makes me a boo hoo bleeding heart, then so be it. -- 9-11 Missed. |
