Anyone NOT travelling out of fear of swine flu?

My family and I had plans of taking the train to DC Saturday to show my girls the monument, the mall and some museums but we are having 2nd thoughts about the increased risk. Thoughts?

If it doesn't make much difference and you can reschedule, you might want to give it a few weeks.

We're not hiding at home or anything, but a weekend jaunt sounds like something that can be postponed.

You are a million+ more likely to die in a train wreck than you are in getting this flu. Especially on a Saturday.

The wife, kids and friends are going to Disneyland tomorrow - the germiest place on earth..
no.. we're not worried.. so far, there is no reason to be worried.. so you catch it.. you're in bed for two days, then you're fine.. seems like "the flu" to me.. even if it's a "pandemic", it's just a pandemic of "the flu"

In my opinion you couldn't' go at a better time then now...you will avoid a lot of the crowds that would normally be there....fear is what the major media and some branches of government want you to feel....don't fall for it..go and enjoy yourselves.

I'm currently "on-the-road" and I have to say that I like it! No lines at restaurants or theaters and even traffic is less than normal. One thing I've noticed is that no one wants to shake hands these days - kind of comical.

A very stupid manager at my work is canceling her trip to mexico over this.

From what I have seen this is no more lethal then the regular flu so I do not understand why people are freaking out over this.

What are they doing when you go in with your hand to initiate the handshake? Pulling back and saying I dont think so?

I don't get the whole fist bump substitute. I'm about as likely to touch my face with the back of my hand as with my fingers (e.g., leaning head on fist). The only right thing is to go ahead, shake hands, remember not to touch your face, and to either wash hands or douse with alcohol at next available, discreet, opportunity.

Second best is to grasp the person's sleeve, but who knows where that's been.

In other words, if you cancel your vacation plans the viruses have already won?

No but us here in Key West may have well confronted the cruise lines.... we are first stop fine... but last stop home from MX was likely to be NO WAY... but the cruse lines did it themselves, instead next month we will have 19 extra port calls... lots of money for the city though likely there will be lots of PO'd performers at sunset blocked Mallory Sunset Celebration.

Come on up. It's not likely to be crowded and we could use the tourist dollars.

If you're healthy, the worst that will happen is you get the flu. The only difference in this flu and any other strain of influenza is that we don't have an immunity to it. But that's why we have an immune system.

I really can't believe that people are freaking out over this.

You're way more likely to get sick and die from the regular flu.
