Re: [Joke] Yorkshire EBay

Yorkshire is a region of northern England with a history of mining. Hence the brass bands, coal mines (closed), cheap houses in pit towns, slag heaps etc.

Flat caps a classic regional style, whippets (dog racing), and pigeons (again racing) and cricket for leisure.

Pies, Yorkshire Puddings and chips and gravy are all fine by me though.

Kinda difficult if you've never been there but most of the items on the list are related to working class Yorkshire people.

If you ever watched Monty Python, they did several skits along these lines, workin' in't mines, stuff like that.

This website might help too »www.ayup.co.uk/index2.html

Can someone explain this to a "yank" such as myself.

I get the one about the trophy polish, and a few others I think I get the joke...

PLEASE!
