1 edit | [DirecTV] Our First 1080p movie I'm watching with the wife our first 1080p PPV movie from DirecTV. TV reports 1080p 24Hz...
Well the wife picked the movie... Bride Wars... hmm... but the picture look great!
Also noticed on my HR21 the LEDs on the front are lit up to showing both 1080i and 720p... I guess that's DirecTV way to say 1080p output. -- "Remember, no matter where you go, there you are!!"

| Directv receiver > Panasonic TV -- Via HDMI. All Audio and video goes directly to the TV.
PS3 > A/V Receiver > TV -- via HDMI. Audio and video through the receiver, and video is passed through to the TV, and the receiver does all the audio.
I don't have the directv receiver running audio through the receiver because I don't want to have the receiver on just to watch tv. I even tried turning on "Surround sound" in the TV ... nothing.. I'm stumped. -- Where's th' DAFFY DUCK EXHIBIT??

Any idea what is passed through at the 1080p resolution? It should be the standard 5.1 right? If that's the case my TV can handle it without blinking.

| Re: [DirecTV] Our First 1080p movie If it's a older Panny , If it support 1080/60 it won't work and that is most likely your issue--D* is sending 1080/24 fps--most older TV's will support 1080P/60 but not both.

I do know that I have my PS3 set to do 1080/24 and it works fine, but I guess then the audio isn't being passed through the TV.

| Re: [DirecTV] Our First 1080p movie said by pende_tim :Did you ever resolve your problem with the audio? I am going through a similar issue with a Scientific Atlanta TWC HD cable box and a new Sony KDL46 S5100 TV. The connection between the Cable box and the TV is via a HDMI cable. Only connection between the two. Randomly during the first few minutes of viewing the Audio will drop and then come back, usually staying on for the rest of the night. TWC has been out to replace the box 2 times and the HDMI cable has also been replaced. Wed , 1 July Best Buy is bring a replacement Sony. Very frustrating. Nope. I found out that turning the TV on/off didn't resolve it, so it's not a TV issue. I found out that turning the received off and then on fixed the problem. -- Where's th' DAFFY DUCK EXHIBIT?? | |

3 edits | Hey even true true 180i is night and day better than many "HD" (CBS and NBC) vs only 720p (ABC and FOX) channels.
And really little difference between 1080i and p but in certain motion situations,
Again why many sport people say they prefer 720P to 1080i, but for average non fast action TV or movie little difference really, and 1080 even i much better res. (but at half the bandwidth of P). -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)
