Those of you who were disinclined to test v1.10beta because of the removal of 802.11b support may wish to change their minds. On the other hand, this firmware, too, is not downgradable.
And still no apparent fix of the supposed port forwarding issue. [Port forwarding may not work as commonly supposed to work. A workaround would appear to be to instead use virtual server.] -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

 | Has anyone tried the new firmware? 1.11 is no longer beta.
My A1 version with 1.01 firmware seems to be running OK, so I wonder if upgrading will result in problems. |

| I suggest sticking with v1.01 for now. My upgraded firmware tends to lock up the router in less than 24 hours. This did not occur with v1.01. -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

 | Did you do a factory reset before uploading the firmware? |

| Yes, indeedy.
I've been playing with settings in an attempt to determine what might be causing the lockups. In addition, I reflashed after some more resets. -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

| Re: DIR 825 Firmware v1.11 Released Right now I'd rather first get the router lockup issue fixed. So far right now current settings seem to be working: no lockup in the past thirteen hours. We'll know by the time I get home tonight whether it's working.
One of these five things may have fixed it:
1. Reflashed after even more router resets. 2. Turned off logging completely. 3. Turned on WLAN partitioning. 4. 5 GHz. band turned to N-only. 5. Changed RTS Threshold and Fragmentation Threshold to 2346. -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

By the way, none of the above fixed it and I noticed while checking out my router settings that I missed
6. Changed MTU from 1500 to 1492.
I've since changed it back.
When I came home this evening from work the router had reverted to a mostly locked up state. I say "mostly" because it exhibited an interesting behavior:
I keep a WinXP remote connection window open to the machine in the living room which is connected wirelessly on the 5 GHz. channel. Though the router appeared locked up [router HTTP interface inaccessible, bittorrents stopped with a "invalid host" error in the tracker status] that remote connection still worked: I could remotely access the desktop on that remote computer and see that the bittorrent client showed nothing uploading or downloaded and I could see that tracker status error.
Also by the way, I see that there is a "newer" v1.11 firmware on the D-Link FTP. The file has a newer date; however, the binary seems to be the same old binary [matching MD5] in the 4 May 2009 file but with a slightly redone TXT file with slight changes in the wording of the changelog and the addition of a couple of other changes that appear to have been left out of the 4 May 2009 changelog.
Just for the hell of it I downloaded the file and reset my router and applied this "newer" binary. We'll see if there is any difference in behavior. -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

Perhaps this weekend I'll see if I can find the sales slip for the thing... -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

 | reply to pleekmo Using 1.10NA because it added Shareport functions which I thought I wanted. It turns out Shareport allows one computer at a time to login and then log out which is not ideal. One user must log out before the next can log in. Then shareport only installed on one of my two macs. I got it to work after manually loading a Belkin usb kernel extension instead of D-Link's. After a trial, I returned the hard drive to the desktop so both computers could use it at the same time, quit using the usb on the router, and and un-installed Shareport. It's not like having an ethernet server.
As far as connection and speed with v1.10 I've had zero problems with the 825 router using G 2.4 on intel and PPC macs and Airport Extreme. Under heavy use, running for 10 days straight passing bitTorrents on both machines at the limit of the ISP's speed. Input is 500Kbps wireless broadband. But I'm not gaming - and that's the true test of capacity.
I'm adding N dual band adapters to both computers this weekend and will up the router firmware this morning to the one mentioned in this thread. It says it restores B? WLYK.
Read something about port forwarding not working? With v1.10 it seemed ok, but I'm not and expert at anything. |

 | I too am getting router lockups once every 24 hours after the 1.11 firmware upgrade. I have tried turning nearly every setting off and it still doesn't solve the problem. It's really too bad I can't downgrade the firmware on this.
If someone finds out a solution to this, please post it. Otherwise I am getting a new router that isn't a D-Link. This isn't acceptable. |

1 edit | reply to pleekmo hmmm, I think I experienced my first lockup recently since updating to 1.11. Actually, it wasn't a lockup, more like my internet slowed down to a crawl and when I tried to log into my router the webpage kept giving me an error. I pulled the power chord and fixed it. So, it seemed like a router issue to me.
nuts, I just read this thread and it seems to point to issues with the firmware.

I actually wish I never updated as I have other issues too. |

 | reply to pleekmo I have been having the same issue after the firware upgrade. I could get not get past 2 days without it hanging. I turned DNS Relay off a week ago and everything seemed to be working much better. Unfortunatally a couple power outages at home reset the router. But as of today I have reached 4.5 days on 1.11 with no slowdowns or hangs. I will keep my fingers crossed and will leave the relay off as a side effect my webpage lookups and browsing is much quicker then before.

1 edit | reply to pleekmo My router has been upgraded to v1.11NA with not lockups yet. I hope it keeps the network up and not give any issues like the users above are having. I do have DNS relay off and could be a fix for the meantime. This is probably the last D-Link product i'll ever buy.
I would like to add another bug where the wireless computers do not show up on the status/wireless page. |

 | reply to pleekmo My 825 has been updated for about two days now and is just now acting funny. I noticed an extreme slowdown on wireless, both 5GHz N and 2.4GHz G, and then realized that I couldn't access the admin page. Wired machines appear to work fine though. I'll have to reboot it and see what happens. |
