Westell port forwarding problem

I have the westel A90-9100em15-10 and whenever i go to forward a port and check it in the port checker it says that it is not open, any advice?

Make sure that you are using a port that is not blocked by your ISP.

yes i have and it still doesnt work, any ideas?

Too little information.

Are you running software that listens on the port? If not, then the port would show as closed (but not as stealth).

hmmm, im not quite sure what that means, but i can tell you that i had time warner and everything worked fine... now when i received verizon and the new router it does not work! thanks

Basically when i check the port it says error connection timed out i cannot see you etc......... any ideas?
