| PS3 Connectivity and SHAW My PS3 connectivity with SHAW has been getting worse and worse. Ever since I bought my PS3 I've had it directly connected to my router through an Ethernet cable. It always use to be fine, I never use to disconnect at all.
Recently, I keep getting disconnected all the time. I have everything the same and I connect to PSN and get disconnected 30 seconds. I always get the 8002a548 ERROR CODE. I mainly play NHL 09 Online and I can't keep a connection to EA or PSN servers.
Whats going on seriously can someone tell me how to fix these problems? I have a D-LINK DI-524 router.
Is this shaw or my ps3 or what cause I can't seem to find a fix.

| Re: PS3 Connectivity and SHAW My PS3 is fine.
Its likely you.
There are days where my PS3 starts disconnecting but that is usually when the wireless signal is weak because stupid Sony gave me no way to see the strength of the connection from the PS3.
Run some tests on your connection, ping the psn servers.

| Okay you say it's likely me. I have my PS3 connected with a wire directly to the router. And I still get disconnected all the time and this just happened recently. What do you mean ping the psn servers. It's not just the PSN servers its to EA servers I get disconnected from too. | |

@shawcable.net | Re: PS3 Connectivity and SHAW I used to have that problem, swapped my router for a GB netgear, and I haven't been disconnected since.

| My PS3's connectivity is still really good. If your PC's are not having a problem with the internet then it could be your cable is shorting somewhere. Some things you can also check is your router, if you google the error message you can find some people who have had issues with their router (not wireless). Finally is your computers having the same issue? If not then it is very unlikely it is Shaw. | |

| First time in 2 weeks that my ps3 is having the same problems as i mentioned in my first post. It seems that if i torrent any file of any size my ps3 starts disconnecting randomly from the psn servers even though i turn the torrent program off. How can i torrent anything if anytime i do my ps3 has horrible connectivity even when i turn the stupid torrent off! | |

| Re: PS3 Connectivity and SHAW your router gets a public IP from shaw your router then gives you private IP's as far as the world is concerned your still connecting from the public IP. a switch or hub do not do this... they pass through the public IP's to your devices.
AnonShawUser would that really make a difference, i thought the filtering was on a per modem basis not a per IP.

| Sounds like after using torrents the incoming requests are hammering your router.
Its a tradeoff of using torrents. The retention on your IP sharing persists after terminating the connection.
Although usually your router should block the incoming requests and not cause problems. I had a similar issue with torrents so now i just newsbin all the time.

| I have a Linksys router
WRT54G and WRT54GL
I've tried different firmware, Tomato, DDWRT, HyperWRT, Default
No matter which I try i get disconnects or timed out
It seems to be an issue with Linksys as other people with different routers have no problem
I also tried going straight into the modem, no router, just PS3 -> modem and the connection was stable and fine, i was able to actually get into Playstation Home without a drop

| watch out with those linksys routers. Linksys cheaped out on the guts of those routers so their ram is halved and the processors are subpar as well.
There is a reason why they are 30 bucks most of the time.
I could crash mine easily with just 1 torrent and xbl connected.
if you try to go to ddwrt you will notice you can only run 1 firmware since they are the "neutered" versions.
