 | Max NVBell DSL speed in Reno? What is the maximum DSL speed test that you have recorded (for those of us who use NVBELL DSL)?
My best ever is 1228 download, 109 upload. -- The glow from all of the nuclear waste at Yucca has actually decreased my electricity bills... |

| Those are about the speeds I get in Incline Village using Greatbasin for ISP. A Nevada Bell tech came out when I had problems originally with dropouts and was very knowledgeable and helpful. His equipment showed capability of 3000+ bps to the CO, but I think the ISP has both speeds limited. I know for more $$ they advertise more speed. |

I can't speak for Nevada Bell Internet, but I can state categorically that we do not limit the speed. If you have ordered the slower speed DSL from us, the speed can range from 384 Kb/s to 1.5 Mb/s, but we do absolutely nothing to limit that. Likewise, the higher speed DSL product may range from 1.5 Mb/s to as much as 5 or 6 Mb/s. The speed you are getting is entirely in Nevada Bell's domain. Please feel free to contact me with any questions on this, or any other, topic. |

 | reply to purplejello Greatbasin - It's great to see a local company that cares enough to join DSLR! It'll be a pleasure to have your company represented on this site.
BTW - What are your rates for standard DSL and fast (1.5 up to 6Mb) DSL? Also, do you have any rate plans with 256k upload? -- Lux et Veritas |

The higher speed (1.5 and up) offering has 384Kb/s upload, but at this time, we're not planning to offer anything but standard and fast. The best way to check out the rates is to go to »www.greatbasin.net/services/dsl.html. |

 | reply to purplejello you will never see the full 1.5 megs through the speed tests because you get some overhead loss through the server running the tests. 1228 is the norm for all users whether they are G.B.I.S. or Nevada bell Internet Services. |
